Etio Health Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 3, 2026. Last updated: November 3, 2026.
Who we are
Etio Health is an app made by Parmelia LLC, a Vermont company. It helps you understand your symptoms, track how you feel, and share your results with a functional medicine practitioner if you choose to. Parmelia LLC is a software company. It is not a health care provider and does not provide care.
This policy explains what the app keeps on your phone, what it sends, and why. Etio, our separate tool for practitioners, has its own privacy policy.
If you live in Washington, Nevada, or Connecticut, our Consumer Health Data Policy explains your additional rights over health information.
Questions about this policy: Parmelia LLC, 51 Union St., Easthampton, MA 01027, hello@etiofm.com.
What stays on your phone
Most of what you enter is stored only on your phone and is never sent to us.
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Daily energy and stress ratings | Your 1 to 5 ratings and what affected each day |
| Flares | Severity, where they showed up, and possible triggers |
| What I'm trying | What you started, and when it started and ended |
| Cycle dates | Only if you turn cycle tracking on (see below) |
| Lab values | Kept on your phone. Saved under your code only when you tap "Save and summarize my labs" |
| Your last lab summary | So you can reread it without saving your labs again |
| Your questionnaire results | A copy, so the app works on later visits |
| Your OK for lab summaries | The date you agreed, so we only ask once |
We can't see any of this. If you delete the app, it is removed from your phone.
What is sent to Etio, and why
Three things are sent to our servers, and only when you take the action that sends them. They are saved under a random code, like ABC-DEFG, not under your name. Your code isn't anonymous to anyone who holds it, so treat it like a password.
| When | What is sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You finish the questionnaire | Your answers and the areas you flagged. Our server works out your results from them. | To give you a code, so a practitioner can see your full assessment |
| You tap "Update my summary" | Points worked out on your phone from your tracking (for example, how many tracked days pointed to a pattern), plus your questionnaire answers again so your results can be recalculated. Never your daily entries, your flares, what you're trying, or your cycle dates | So your results reflect how you have been doing |
| You tap "Save and summarize my labs" | The lab values you entered | So a practitioner can see them with your results |
Who can see it. Anyone who has your code can load these results, through Etio or through the app. Only share it with a practitioner you choose. We don't keep a record of who loads a code. A practitioner may save your results as a case in Etio. That case keeps your code, so we can find it if you ask us to (see Your choices), and it is then also covered by Etio's policy and the practitioner's own professional duties.
How long it is kept. A code works for 30 days after the last time anything was saved under it. After that, the results stored under it are deleted from our servers.
Our servers are run by hosting providers who store this data on our behalf. They don't use it for anything else.
Lab summaries and AI
When you tap "Save and summarize my labs," the app shows a short summary of what each lab generally measures. An AI service writes it: Claude, made by Anthropic.
- What the AI receives: only the lab names and the numbers you entered. Not your code, your questionnaire answers, your tracking, or anything that identifies you.
- Your permission first: before your first summary, the app explains this and asks for your OK. If you choose "Not now," nothing is sent.
- What it is: general information, not a diagnosis or medical advice. Only your healthcare provider can tell you what your results mean for you.
Anthropic receives the lab names and values through our server and uses them only to write the summary. Under its terms for business customers, it does not use them to train its models and deletes them on its standard schedule (currently within 30 days), unless they are needed to enforce its usage policies or the law requires otherwise.
We don't use your information to train AI models, including large language models, and we don't sell it for that purpose. The app's patterns and summaries are general information only. Nothing in Etio Health makes decisions about you.
Cycle tracking
Cycle tracking is off unless you turn it on. If you do, you log only the date each period starts.
- Your cycle dates stay on your phone. They are never sent to Etio, never included when you update your summary, and never sent to the AI service.
- The app uses them only to compare your own energy and flares across your cycle, on your phone.
- You can remove any date, or turn cycle tracking off and delete all your cycle dates, at any time.
Separately, "Menstrual cycle / PMS" is one of the things you can mark as affecting your energy on a given day. Like your other daily entries, it stays on your phone and is left out of the points sent when you tap "Update my summary."
The questionnaire is different. It asks about your periods, PMS, cycle-related symptoms, and whether you are trying to conceive, because those answers shape some of your patterns. Like all your questionnaire answers, they are sent when you finish the questionnaire and saved under your code. You can skip these questions if they don't apply to you.
What we don't collect or do
- No account. You don't sign up, and we don't ask for your name, email, phone number, or address.
- No location. The app doesn't use your location.
- No ads or tracking. The app has no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing for marketing. We never sell your information or share it for advertising.
If you tap "Contact us" or book with a practitioner, your email app or their website opens. What you send them is covered by their own policies, not this one.
Backups, security, and how long data is kept
Phone backups. Like other apps, Etio Health's data is included in your phone's own backup (such as iCloud) if you have backups turned on. That backup is controlled by you and your phone's maker, not by us.
Security. Data sent to our servers travels over an encrypted connection and is stored encrypted by our hosting providers. Only Parmelia can access it. Your code is random and doesn't contain anything about you. Like most web services, our hosting provider keeps short technical logs of each request, which can include your IP address, for up to 30 days. We don't use them to identify you. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what we hold and will tell you, through the app, if a security incident affects it.
How long it's kept.
| Where | How long |
|---|---|
| On your phone | Until you delete it or delete the app |
| On our servers, under your code | 30 days after the last save, then deleted |
| Saved by a practitioner in Etio | As long as they keep the case, under Etio's policy |
Your choices
- Don't send. Nothing leaves your phone until you finish the questionnaire, tap "Update my summary," or tap "Save and summarize my labs." Tracking works without sending anything.
- Correct it. Change any entry or lab value in the app. To change what is stored under your code, tap "Save and summarize my labs" again, update your summary, or take a new assessment. When you finish a new assessment, the app asks whether to keep the lab values on your phone or delete them. Your labs are saved under your new code only when you tap "Save and summarize my labs." Loading a code never changes the labs on your phone.
- Delete it. Tap Delete all my data in the app to delete everything on your phone and your results under your code on our servers at once. Results under your code are also deleted automatically 30 days after your last update. If a practitioner already saved your results as a case in Etio, that case is part of their records and isn't removed by this button. Email us with your code and we will find any Etio case saved under it, tell that practitioner about your request, and remove your code from the case so it can't be refreshed with anything new.
- Ask us. Email hello@etiofm.com with your code to ask what is stored, to delete it, or with any question about this policy.
California
Do Not Track. Etio Health doesn't track you across other apps or websites, and no other company tracks you through it, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to turn off.
No selling or sharing for marketing. We don't sell your information or share it with anyone for their own marketing, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Your rights. Californians can ask what we hold about them, ask us to correct or delete it, and won't be treated differently for asking. Use the steps in Your choices above, or the Consumer Health Data Policy for health information.
Requests from law enforcement or others
Most of what you enter never leaves your phone, so we can't hand it over: we don't have it. That includes your cycle dates, daily tracking, and flares.
For what is stored under your code, we review every legal request one at a time. We disclose only what the law requires and push back on requests that are too broad or not properly supported. Because we don't know who you are, we usually can't notify you directly; where the law allows, we will post a notice in the app. We never share your information because someone simply asks.
Other things to know
Not for children. Etio Health is meant for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes someone under 18 has sent results, they can email us the code and we will delete them.
Not for emergencies. If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If you're in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988.
Changes to this policy. If we change how the app handles your information, we will update this policy and its date, and tell you in the app before the change applies to anything new you send.
HIPAA. Etio Health is an app you use directly. Parmelia LLC is not a health care provider and does not act for one when it runs Etio Health, so HIPAA generally doesn't apply to it. If a practitioner saves your results in their own records, their professional and legal duties apply to their copy.
If Etio Health changes hands. If Parmelia LLC or Etio Health is ever sold or merged, this policy continues to protect the information we hold, and we will tell you before anything about it changes.
