Etio Health Terms of Use
Effective date: November 3, 2026. These terms are the end user license agreement for Etio Health.
Please read the Disputes section. It requires most disputes to be resolved by individual arbitration, not in court or as a class action, unless you opt out.
Agreeing to these terms
Etio Health is an app made by Parmelia LLC, a Vermont company ("we" or "us"). You accept these terms and our Privacy Policy by tapping "I agree" when you first open the app. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
You must be 18 or older. Etio Health is for adults. By using it, you confirm you are at least 18. Where state law requires, the app may use the age range your Apple account shares with apps to confirm this.
The app as it is today. We may add, change, or remove features over time. We'll tell you in the app before a change takes away something you pay for.
Not medical advice
Etio Health gives general information. It is not medical advice, a diagnosis, or treatment, and using it does not make us your health care provider. Using the app doesn't create a practitioner-patient relationship with Parmelia LLC or anyone who works for it.
- Your snapshot shows patterns your answers point to. It is a starting point for a conversation with a practitioner, not a diagnosis.
- Tracking shows what lined up in your own entries. It never says what caused what, and it never recommends anything.
- Always ask a qualified health care provider before you start, stop, or change any treatment, medication, supplement, or way of eating.
Not for emergencies. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911. If you're in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988.
Your code
When you finish the questionnaire, your results are saved under a random code, like ABC-DEFG. There is no account or password: anyone who has your code can see your results.
- Share your code only with a practitioner you choose, and keep it private otherwise.
- If you think someone has your code who shouldn't, use Delete all my data in the app, or email us, and we'll delete the results saved under it.
- A code stops working 30 days after your last update, and the results saved under it are deleted.
Once a practitioner has loaded your results into their own records, what they do with them is between you and them, under their own policies.
Lab summaries
When you tap "Save and summarize my labs," a summary of what they generally mean is written by an AI service, Claude by Anthropic. Before your first summary, the app asks for your OK and explains what is shared.
- It is general information. It explains what each lab usually measures. It doesn't know your history and can't say what your results mean for you.
- It can contain mistakes. AI can misread a value, a unit, or a range. Check anything important with your health care provider.
- It is not a substitute for your provider's review. Only your healthcare provider can tell you what your results truly mean for you and your health.
You are responsible for entering your lab values correctly. A wrong number or unit leads to a wrong summary.
Practitioners in the directory
"Find a practitioner" lists practitioners who use Etio, our tool for practitioners. They are independent professionals, not our employees or agents, and we don't provide, supervise, or guarantee their care.
- Before a practitioner appears in the directory, we check the license or certification they report against public records. We don't monitor licenses continuously, and a license can change. You can confirm a practitioner's license with their state licensing board. A listing is not a recommendation for your particular needs.
- Booking, fees, and care are between you and the practitioner. Booking opens their own website, under their own terms and privacy policy.
- Choosing a practitioner, and deciding whether their care is right for you, is your decision.
- Dr. Jill Smith, DC, who owns Parmelia LLC, is a practitioner and may be listed in the directory.
Free trial and subscriptions
Etio Health starts with a free trial of 14 days, which covers tracking. Saving and summarizing your labs needs a paid subscription. Prices are shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy.
- Apple handles payment. Subscriptions are bought, billed, and managed through your Apple account, under Apple's terms.
- It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- To cancel, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the current period ends.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy. We can't issue refunds for App Store purchases.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.
If we change a price, Apple will tell you before it applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before then.
Using the app fairly
Please use Etio Health only for your own health information. Don't:
- enter another person's information without their permission
- try to guess, collect, or use codes that aren't yours
- interfere with the app or our servers, overload them, or try to get around how the app works or what you have paid for
Our app and content
Your information is yours. Your answers, entries, and lab values belong to you. You let us store and process them only to run the app for you, as the Privacy Policy describes. We don't sell them or use them to train AI.
The app is ours. Etio Health and everything in it belongs to Parmelia LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. That includes the questionnaire and its questions, how answers are scored, the pattern descriptions, the trackers and their summaries, the wording, design, and code, and the names and logos Etio and Etio Health.
What you may do. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the app on your own devices, for your own health information, while you follow these terms. You can share your own results and code with a practitioner you choose.
What you may not do, unless we agree in writing:
- copy, reproduce, translate, or republish the app or any part of its content, including the questionnaire, scoring, or pattern descriptions
- sell, rent, sublicense, or offer the app or its content to others, or use it in a service for others
- reverse engineer, decompile, or take apart the app or try to extract its code, scoring, or data, except where the law expressly allows it
- use the app, its content, or its output to build, train, or improve a competing product, including an AI model
- collect content from the app or our servers by automated means (scraping, bots, or similar)
- remove or change any notice of ownership, or use our names or logos in a way that suggests we endorse you
Ideas you send us. If you send suggestions or feedback, we may use them to improve Etio Health without owing you anything.
If you break this section, your right to use the app ends, and we may take legal action to protect our work.
Disclaimers and limits
The app is provided "as is." We work to keep Etio Health accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always work, be error-free, or meet your needs. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose.
Your data on your phone. Most of what you log stays only on your phone. If you delete the app, lose your phone, or it isn't backed up, that data can be lost, and we can't recover it.
Limits on our liability. To the extent the law allows, Parmelia LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on the app. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you paid nothing.
If you live in a state whose law doesn't allow one of these limits (for example, a limit on implied warranties or on certain damages), that limit applies to you only as far as your state allows. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be waived.
Ending, changes, and contact
Ending. You can stop using Etio Health at any time; Delete all my data clears the app on your phone and the results saved under your code. We may suspend or end access if someone breaks these terms or misuses the app.
Changes to these terms. If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. For a significant change, the app will show you the new terms and ask you to tap "I agree" before you keep using it. A change to the Disputes section never applies to a dispute you have already told us about.
Apple. These terms are between you and Parmelia LLC only, not Apple. Parmelia, not Apple, is responsible for Etio Health and its content. Your license lets you use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow. Apple has no duty to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for it; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Parmelia, not Apple, is responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection or privacy claims, and claims that it infringes someone else's intellectual property. You confirm you are not in a country under a US government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and are not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your wireless carrier's. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Disputes. Please read this carefully. It affects your rights.
- Talk to us first. Before filing any claim, email hello@etiofm.com describing the problem and what you want. We'll both try in good faith to resolve it for 60 days. Either of us may then go ahead.
- Individual arbitration. If we can't resolve it, any dispute about Etio Health or these terms will be decided by binding individual arbitration run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, not in court. The arbitration can be held by video, or in the county where you live. Parmelia pays the AAA's filing, administration and arbitrator fees beyond what you would pay to file in court, unless the arbitrator finds your claim frivolous. The arbitrator can award the same individual relief a court could.
- No class actions. You and Parmelia may bring claims against each other only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not combine more than one person's claims. If this waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim goes to court instead of arbitration.
- Exceptions. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court. Either of us may ask a court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property.
- Many similar claims. If 25 or more similar arbitration demands are filed by or with help from the same lawyers or organization, they will be handled in batches under the AAA's Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules, with fees charged per batch.
- Opting out. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these terms by emailing hello@etiofm.com with the subject "Arbitration opt-out." If you opt out, disputes go to the courts below.
Governing law and courts. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the Disputes section. Otherwise, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Vermont. Any dispute that isn't arbitrated goes to the state or federal courts in Vermont, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it where you live.
General. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Parmelia about Etio Health. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part right away, we haven't given it up. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them to a company that takes over Etio Health. The sections on ownership, disclaimers, limits on liability and disputes continue after your use ends. We aren't responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages of internet or hosting services. We send notices to you in the app.
